Blue Jay is one of our Labradoodles that has been trained as a service dog at Freedom Service Dogs in Denver.

We want to share the story of recent FSD grads Rick and Blue Jay. This U.S. Army veteran suffers from combat-related PTSD that has made it difficult for him to go out in public, but with “Blue” at his side, Rick is getting out of the house more often. “He does a great job of keeping the focus off me and giving me something to focus on,” says Rick, who also appreciates his service dog’s companionship as he cares for the yaks and other animals on his small Colorado ranch. This is Rumi She is one of our Labradoodle Pups. She has been trained to become a service dog at Freedom Service Dogs in Denver.

 The inspiring story of Virginia and Rumi is a perfect example of why we celebrate National Service Dog Month every September. Virginia is a U.S. Army veteran who experiences daily challenges of PTSD, fatigue, and pain issues limiting her mobility. After graduating with FSD service dog Rumi in August, Virginia says, “Rumi is alive for me so that I can alleviate those things. She was trained for a year and six months as the positive to the negative parts of my disabilities.
